"We must continue the fight to save our post offices"

Member of Parliament for North Norfolk, Norman Lamb, came out swinging in his fight to save North Norfolk's Post Offices by attending a day of protest. Hundreds of members of each local community gathered to hear Mr Lamb speak and to demonstrate support for their local post office. Mr Lamb praised the communities and their postmasters, "It is very important to have the local community and its postmaster be seen to be pulling together to save their post office. The post office is a vital part of the local community and we must fight tooth and nail to prevent its closure. We have tremendous, caring and enthusiastic postmasters here in North Norfolk, who have taken their branches from strength to strength. The idea of closing these branches in North Norfolk is outrageous."

Mr Lamb spoke of his plans to meet with Post Office Ltd and to push the case for saving the local Post Office, "I will be meeting with an official from Post Office Ltd so that I can relay not just my concerns, but those of the thousands of residents that have written in to me, signed my petition and turned out in force here today. The network of post offices in North Norfolk is an incredibly valuable resource and we should be working towards enhancing it not demolishing it."

"The idea of closing local post offices is outrageous"

Mr Lamb visited four post offices scheduled for closure in North Norfolk on Saturday morning during his 'Post Office Day of Action'. His journey took him to Gimingham, East Runton, Cromer Road, Sheringham and Fakenham. He is stressing the need for positive action from all concerned residents, "I cannot stress enough the importance of continuing to write in to me and Post Office Ltd. We are only one month away from the end of the consultation period so it essential that we keep up the fight and don't give up in our battle to save our local post office".
