Lamb launches national petition to save Post Office card accounts11.03.18pm GMT Sun 22nd Jan 2006 Responding to the Department of Work and Pensions' decision not to extend their contract for the Post Office card account beyond 2010, North Norfolk MP and Liberal Democrat Trade and Industry Spokesperson, Norman Lamb said: "This decision will undermine the long-term viability of the Post Office network. The Post Office Card account will generate £1billion for Post Offices over the period 2003-2010. My fear is that by ending this contract many Post Offices will close, and millions of people will be denied the choice of using the Post Office card account at local branches." "I am launching a national petition calling on the Government to reverse its decision." To obtain copies of petition forms, write to Norman Lamb at: 15 Market Place, North Walsham, Norfolk NR28 9BP or phone 01692 403752.
