Norman Lamb today highlighted Liberal Democrat plans to scrap university tuition fees and top up fees. The plans also include provision to introduce grants of up to £2,000 a year for poorer students so that no one is deterred from going to university by the fear of debt.
Mr Lamb promoted the policy following the arrival of the Liberal Democrat national campaign poster van in Cromer.
"It is impossible for students to think about getting on the property ladder or planning their pensions while they are suffering huge levels of debt," said Mr Lamb. "Student debt is particularly unfair to women who earn less on average over the course of their lifetimes, and therefore take longer to pay the money off."
