Norman Lamb challenges government over biofuels strategy

5.31.38pm GMT Mon 15th Nov 2004

Norman Lamb, Lib Dem MP for North will ask the Secretary of State for Transport, Alastair Darling, to outline the government's strategy on biofuels in the House of Commons tomorrow.

Following a meeting of the Biofuels group on 12 November, Norman Lamb will challenge the Secretary of State over rising levels of carbon emissions and ask what the government is doing to make a financially viable biofuels industry into a reality.

"Following my meeting with the Biofuels group last Friday, I will put pressure on the Secretary of State for Transport over the government's commitment to biofuels," Mr Lamb said this afternoon. "With the Pre-Budget report coming up, there is mounting urgency for the government to commit to measures that will make a biofuels industry a reality."
