Lamb urges nominations for Queen's Award for Voluntary Service9.56.00am BST (GMT +0100) Wed 14th Jul 2004 To celebrate her Golden Jubilee, in 2002 the Queen announced the creation of a new award for outstanding achievements by volunteer groups. This award recognizes the vital role played by thousands of "unsung heroes" in the voluntary and community world, and emphasises the importance of acknowledging the value and extent of their contribution to our communities. Norman Lamb, MP for North Norfolk, is urging local volunteer groups to seek nomination for the Queen's Awards for Voluntary Service 2005. Mr Lamb is very keen to support nominations for groups of volunteers who give up their time to provide a high-quality service within their local community. "Nomination forms can be obtained from my constituency office in North Walsham", said Mr Lamb today. "I would be delighted to offer my support to local groups of volunteers who make a real difference to the North Norfolk community. We all need to recognize the commitment and generosity of people who give their time voluntarily to help and serve their communities."
