Lamb welcomes Brick Kiln Road safety plans

12.05.00pm GMT Mon 12th Jan 2004

Norman Lamb, the Liberal Democrat MP for North Norfolk, has welcomed the news that Norfolk County Council plans to undertake safety improvements on Brick Kiln Road in North Walsham.

In a letter to Mr Lamb, the Council announced that they will be consulting on modifications to the existing speed reduction measures on Brick Kiln Road, namely:

• Conversion of the existing speed cushions outside the schools on Manor Road to full-width speed humps, 'to reduce traffic speed at this sensitive spot and to aid children/parents crossing'.

• Provision of two speed-reactive 20mph 'Slow Down' signs on Brick Kiln Road itself.

Commenting, Norman Lamb said: "I am very pleased that the County Council has decided to take some action on this issue, and hope that they will be implemented after consultation. I know that District Councillors Pat Ford and Peter Moore join me in welcoming the fact that local concerns have been recognised in this way."
