Act Now for Own Water Drainage Rebates

8.05.00pm GMT Thu 13th Nov 2003

Norman Lamb, Liberal Democrat Member of Parliament for North Norfolk, is urging constituents entitled to a rebate for own surface water drainage to apply at the earliest opportunity.

Mr Lamb said: "Many people are being overcharged in respect of surface water drainage. Anglian Water is not aware of properties entitled to a rebate unless their customers inform them, but many customers are not aware of their entitlements".

Norman Lamb added: "It has transpired that people are only entitled to a reimbursement of any overcharge from the beginning of that financial year. It is imperative that people who are being overcharged act at the earliest opportunity".

Notes:

From 1 April 2000, a reduced standing charge has been made to customers with properties not connected to surface water drainage.

WaterVoice Eastern is the statutory Ofwat Eastern Customer Service Committee. Ofwat, the Office of Water Services, is the economic regulator for the water industry.

Customers wishing to apply for an application form for a rebate should call 0800 169 3271.
