Lamb to Question Minister on Impact of Biofuels to the Rural Economy2.04.00pm GMT Tue 18th Nov 2003 Norman Lamb, Liberal Democrat Member of Parliament for North Norfolk, will ask Margaret Beckett, The Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) for a statement on Thursday regarding the impact of the development of a biofuels industry on the rural economy. Mr Lamb said: "Biofuels could potentially provide a much needed economic boost to rural areas while at the same time leading to a reduction in the use of fossil fuels. Until the Government recognises this, and starts taking biofuels seriously, there is an increasing risk that our main source of biofuels in the future will come from imports."
