Norman Lamb

Liberal Democrat MP for North Norfolk since 2001

Lamb To Meet Trade Justice Campaigners

12.00.00am GMT Thu 26th Jun 2003

Norman Lamb, the MP for North Norfolk, is holding a special constituency surgery tomorrow as part of the '24 Hours for Trade Justice' campaigning event, organised by the Trade Justice Movement (TJM).

During a 24-hour period on 27-28 June, MPs across the country will be lobbied by constituents on trade justice issues. It is hoped that this will be the largest co-ordinated lobby of MPs ever undertaken. The campaign will also be featured prominently at this weekend's Glastonbury Festival, where rock band Radiohead - among the campaign's leading supporters - are appearing.

A number of North Norfolk constituents will be attending Norman Lamb's surgery in North Walsham to raise their concerns about the effect current trade arrangements have on poorer countries. Among them will be representatives of local branches of Oxfam and Christian Aid.

"I am very pleased to have this opportunity to meet with local trade justice campaigners," said Mr Lamb.

"The challenge is to achieve a framework for global trade which is fair to developing countries and which boosts their economies to the benefit of all mankind.

"After my surgery tomorrow, I will be taking up their concerns with the Government."
