Witnesses Co-operating In Equitable Inquiry

12.00.00am BST (GMT +0100) Tue 8th Apr 2003

Norman Lamb MP, Liberal Democrat Shadow Treasury Minister and member of the Treasury Select Committee, has welcomed the news that witnesses are now co-operating more fully with the Penrose Inquiry into Equitable Life.

This was confirmed in a letter to Mr Lamb from Hugh Burns, Secretary to the Inquiry.

Commenting, Norman Lamb said: "The news that the Inquiry has had greater success in getting co-operation from witnesses is welcome. While I still have serious concerns about the number of separate inquiries into Equitable Life which are in progress, it is good news that the Penrose Inquiry seems to be moving more swiftly towards its conclusion."
